Are you looking for a top-notch credit card that offers premium benefits for frequent travelers and foodies? Look no further than the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card! Although the $550 annual fee may seem steep, the benefits more than make up for it.
In this blog post, I will highlight 10 reasons why the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card is well worth the investment, from its lucrative sign-up bonus and annual travel credit to complimentary access to airport lounges and more. So let's dive in and see why the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card is the smart choice for those who love to travel and dine out.

You can earn 60,000 points if you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months after opening your account. That's worth a whopping $900 towards travel booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards! (I will cover how the 60,000 points turn into $900 of travel credit towards the end.)
Annual Travel Credit
The card comes with a $300 annual travel credit, which can be used towards travel purchases such as airfare, hotels, rental cars, and more. The best part is that the credit automatically applies to your account, so you do not have to worry about any extra steps to redeem it. However, my favorite part was seeing that the annual travel credit begins when your account is opened and resets each year on your account anniversary!
Priority Pass Membership (Lounge Access)
One of the benefits of having this card is complimentary access to over 1,000 airport lounges around the globe through a Priority Pass membership. Whether you're looking to catch up on work, enjoy a delicious meal, or unwind with a drink, this membership will make your travels more enjoyable (and fancy)!
Global Entry or TSA PreCheck Credit
This card also helps make your travels more efficient with its statement credit of up to $100 every four years to cover the application fee for either Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. These two programs make traveling through security checkpoints faster and more efficient - score!
Travel Protection Benefits
This perk is the main reason I choose the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card! In short, this card provides travel insurance for your trips booked using the card. Here are some of the highlights:
- Trip cancellation and interruption insurance: If you have to cancel or cut your trip short due to covered reasons, you can be reimbursed for up to $10,000 per person and $20,000 per trip.
- Delayed baggage insurance: If your checked baggage is delayed for more than six hours, you can be reimbursed for essential purchases, up to $100 a day for five days.
- Lost luggage reimbursement: If your checked or carry-on baggage is lost or damaged by the carrier, you can be reimbursed up to $3,000 per passenger.
- Emergency evacuation and transportation: If you or a covered family member become injured or sick while traveling, you can be covered for emergency evacuation and transportation up to $100,000.
- Travel accident insurance: If you or a covered family member suffer a serious injury or loss of life while traveling, you can be covered up to $1,000,000 in accidental death or dismemberment coverage.

No Foreign Transaction Fees
Are you an international traveler and rather not be charged fees to use your credit card and/or exchange cash? The Chase Sapphire Reserve Card has a solution for that as it does not charge foreign transaction fees, making it an excellent choice for international travelers.
Purchase Protection
If something you bought with the card gets damaged or stolen within 120 days of purchase, you could get reimbursed up to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per year. It is a great way to protect your purchases and feel confident when shopping with the card!
Primary Rental Car Insurance
Purchasing rental car insurance will be a thing of the past when you have this card because primary rental car insurance is offered on the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card! It means that in the event of an accident or theft of a rental car, the card's insurance coverage will be the first to kick in.
As such, you will not have to go through the hassle of filing a claim with your personal insurance policy first, which could potentially raise your rates or affect your coverage. (This does not cover all types of rental cars, check the fine print for more details.)
3x Points on Travel and Dining
The Chase Sapphire Reserve Card rewards cardholders with 3 points for every dollar spent on eligible travel and dining purchases. Eligible travel purchases include airfare, hotels, car rentals, cruises, and other travel-related expenses.
Dining purchases include purchases made at restaurants, cafes, bars, and fast-food chains. It helps us accumulate points super fast as we are always traveling and eating. 😅
Your Points are Valued at 1.5x on the Chase Travel Portal
When redeeming points for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards, cardholders receive 50% more value, making their points go further (this is how 60,000 points turn into $900 in travel credit).
With the 3x points on travel and dining and each point being worth 1.5 cents when redeemed through the portal, it effectively gives cardholders a 4.5% return on travel and dining purchases. This feature makes the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card a great choice for frequent travelers and foodies.
But, wait there's more!
There are plenty of other amazing perks for having the Chase Sapphire Reserve. Some of the additional benefits include:
- Exclusive benefits when booking the Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection
- Free DoorDash DashPass Membership for at least a year
- Complimentary Lyft Pink Membership
- Concierge Service to help with travel bookings, dining reservations, and more
- Access to Exclusive Events and Experiences
