Goodbye 2022, Hello 2023!

Updated: Dec 21, 2023

Dale (Come On), Let's Travel Back in Time to Review 2022! This article will recap all the fun adventures DLT! has been on and you've had the chance to learn about in 2022. We hope one of these blog posts inspires you to experience it for yourself in the New Year - each blog topic will be linked below for your reference. Happy Travels!

California

Matthew and Tatiana at Universal Outlook

We took advantage of Go City's 4-Choice Explorer Pass for LA while we were in California. Using this pass, we explored Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood, Big Bus Celebrity Homes & Lifestyle Tour, Dolby Theatre® Guided Tour, and Madame Tussauds Hollywood. We also beach-hopped from Santa Monica Pier all the way down south to Treasure Island Park. The beaches in Southern California are so beautiful and perfect for a fun beach day or a serene, relaxing day just make sure to pick the right one for each!

Major League Baseball Stadiums

Growing up, my family always loved watching or playing baseball, and it has become my goal to visit each MLB Stadium and attend a game. This year we attended a Los Angeles Angels game in Anaheim, California, and a Miami Marlins game in Miami, Florida. The Angels stadium was our first Western MLB stadium, and it was fascinating to see the different styles and vibes each Stadium gave off!

New York

Lighted Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and Ice Skating Rink from the 2021 Holiday Season

The city that never sleeps and is known for its hustle and bustle becomes a whimsical Christmas Wonderland after Thanksgiving. New York is a great place to visit during Christmas time for its Saks Fifth Avenue Christmas Light Show, gigantic lighted Rockefeller Christmas tree, and various places to ice skate or take pictures with Santa. However, New York is also a great place to visit throughout the year to enjoy some delicious tacos, visit museums and the Statue of Liberty, and view its breathtaking skyline from various observatories!

Disney Springs

DLT! meeting Santa Clause at Once Upon a Toy at Disney Springs

Walt Disney World Resort is known as the most magical place on Earth, and during the Christmas season, it becomes extra magical! Disney Springs is an outdoor entertainment complex with lots of shopping and dining options inside the Walt Disney World Resort. Our favorite thing to do at Disney Springs during Christmas Time is the Christmas Tree Stroll around the complex. However, Disney Springs is just as fun and lively throughout the rest of the year with their weekend night performances every weekend. Our favorite band is La Calle, and we also have enjoyed watching Drey-C perform over the years.

Gaylord Texan

The Polar Express Round Trip ticket carved out of ice with the word BELIEVE punched out

There are 5 Gaylord Hotels around the United States, and we have previously visited the ones in Florida and Tennessee. This year we ventured out to the one in Texas, the Gaylord Texan, to see The Polar Express ICE! exhibit. The Gaylord Texan is a resort and convention center that transforms into a Texan Christmas Wonderland from mid-November to January first of the new year. Various Christmas activities can be enjoyed at the Gaylord Texan during this time besides ICE! like a Light Show, the Cirque Winter Wonderland show, gingerbread decorating, a scavenger hunt, escape rooms, and more.

Busch Gardens

A theme park known for its thrilling rollercoasters and animal encounters in Tampa, Florida, transforms into Christmas Town from mid-November to Jan 9, 2023. You can enjoy all the regular fun that Busch Gardens offers, but with additional holiday celebrations. During this time, you will find Christmas on Ice, Story Time with Mrs. Clause, Three Kings Journey, and other select performances throughout the festivities. My favorite show is always Christmas on Ice, but this year Story Time with Mrs. Clause was also a fun one I enjoyed! There's still time to visit Christmas Town at Busch Gardens since it's running for one more week!

Tennessee

Ole Smoky Moonshine at The Island at Pigeon Forge

A Tennessee Christmas - one so good we spent this current New Year celebration there again! Our trip to Tennessee was part of my family's end-of-year trip in 2021/2 and now again in 2022/3. It was the most unique end-of-year trip as we usually go to a major metropolitan city, hop on a bus or train, and explore. However, in Tennessee, we road-tripped our way through visiting the tourist spots like Ruby Falls (Chattanooga), Gaylord Opryland (Nashville) and Dollywood (Pigeon Forge). What made this trip unique was that we took a lot of our time to go out and explore nature in our quest to find waterfalls. It was something we never ventured out to do on purpose, and we loved it!
