What is Popstroke?
Popstroke offers an experiential golf adventure crafted by Tiger Woods' TGR Design Team. Our Experience
We checked out the Sarasota Popstroke near the University Town Center by I-75. Right from the parking lot, it felt neat and welcoming, kind of like a place Tiger Woods would endorse. Stepping inside, large glass windows provided a peek at the course. There, we found the cash register, a display of putters, souvenirs, a picture of Tiger Woods, and even an ice cream parlor. We purchased our day passes, and the staff explained the perks of the Popstroke app, allowing us to track scores and order drinks during our game. After getting our passes, we snagged our putters and commemorative ball from the Taylormade Golf Company before heading out to the course.
Before diving into the course, there is a putting green available for practice shots. Once you are warmed up, it is time to choose between the Black or Red course. Both boast 18 holes built entirely with synthetic turf, with the Black Course often considered the more beginner-friendly option. Opting for a leisurely start, we began with the Black Course. While navigating through its holes, we noticed convenient stands at each, equipped with 4 cup holders and a hook for purses or bags. These stands were a game-changer, offering a spot for our drinks and my clutch while we played. Some holes even featured tall fans with misters - a delightful relief in the Florida heat! But what stood out most was something new to us: white water coolers filled with small towels soaked in ice water. A refreshing and much-appreciated amenity under the blazing Florida sun!
I clinched a surprise victory on the Black Course - quite a shocker considering my usual game! Before tackling the Red Course, we swung by their restaurant to order food. The Sarasota spot boasts a full-service restaurant and a rooftop bar (the rooftop bar can be rented out as a private event space). Their menu is diverse, offering Reuben Eggrolls, Boneless Wings, Flatbreads, Tacos, Burgers, Sandwiches, Salads, Caribbean Mahi, Churrasco Skirt Steak, and more. They also have a kids' menu, various sides, ice cream, milkshakes, and alcoholic beverages. Moreover, the restaurant area features lawn games like corn hole, foosball, and ping pong. There is even a kids playground - all of these small feats are a fantastic addition to the Popstroke experience and show the thought put into the venue!
After our meal, we proceeded to the Red Course, which also featured stands equipped with cupholders and purse hooks, alongside the white water coolers. However, there appeared to be fewer coolers on this course. However, the Red Course had more fans and misters. While playing, we spotted a jumbotron displaying a live scoreboard for everyone. It was fascinating to see our names up on the leaderboard. The Red Course turned out to be more challenging, and this time, Matthew emerged as the victor!

To celebrate our victories and a great time, we had ice cream from the shop at the entrance. Overall, we had so much fun and found our new favorite mini-golf location! Popstroke redefines mini-golf into a more advanced and sophisticated feat while keeping the fun and competitive edge to mini-golf. It also adds a new meaning to the phrase "hole-in-one" as it is one location that has many features to make it a place where you could spend your entire day.
